Mobile Work Order Management for a Home Warranty Company’s Service Provider / Contractor Network

Overview

The client’s first entry into the mobile space marked a pivotal step in modernizing its service operations. This project not only delivered a fully functional React Native application—successfully published on both the Apple App Store and Google Play—but also served as a foundational learning experience, helping the client effectively navigate and understand the mobile ecosystem. The client depends on a distributed network of service providers and contractors to perform in-home repairs and replacements under homeowners’ service agreements. Prior to this initiative, work orders were managed exclusively through a web-based system, limiting efficiency and flexibility for technicians in the field.

Problem

The client relies on its network of service providers / contractors to make house calls for repairs and replacements covered under homeowners’ service agreements. Currently, work orders are managed through a web-based process (not mobile-enabled) that is cumbersome on tablets and computers, often leading to delays in submission and completion. The client aimed to streamline this experience by enabling service providers/contractors to manage work orders via mobile. By putting this capability directly at their fingertips, the client seeks to reduce delays, improve claim resolution times, and minimize operational overhead; ultimately enhancing service efficiency and reducing costs.
